In my last post I showed you the winning quilts of the International Quilt Festival in Houston. They are real beauties but there are so many other quilts to be seen that are as beautiful as the winners. What a difficult job for the jury. Today we will focus on the other quilts.
Thanks to Luana Rubin of equilter.com we can enjoy great videos of almost all of the major quilt shows. Thank you Luana! Here she presents Japanese quilts.
Here is a video with some of the animal quilts at the show – many of them from the wonderful SAQA exhibition “Wild Fabrication”. These quilts are so gorgeous – I could watch the film over and over.
In 2016 the American National Parks will celebrate their 100th anniversary. Donna De Soto challenged quilters to show their view of the various National Parks and received almost 200 quilts. A selection of more than 80 quilts was shown at the Quilt Festival. Here is Luana Rubin interviewing Donna De Soto and you can see some of these stunning quilts.
And finally I found some short videos of artists talking about their quilts. It is a project of the Quilt Alliance called “Go Tell it at the Quilt Show” with the aim of capturing the stories of quilts. For me it is always the most interesting part hearing artists talking about their work – how and why they did it. Here is a playlist of 15 videos and I hope you will like the stories as much as I do.
Have a great weekend!
