For many years now the quiltshow in Veldhoven (the Netherlands) is a date anticipated by many quilters. From the (not so humble) beginnings this show has evolved into one of the highlights of the European quiltshow calendar.
There are a lot of quilts – traditional and contemporary.
The winners of many different categories are awarded with ribbons.
Many of the artists in the special exhibitions are at the show. You can chat with them, ask them about their quilts and techniques and take your picture with them.
Sometimes a new book is out and the quilts of the book are shown. And if the author comes to the show there is usually a book signing party.
Of course there is also a large vendor mall covering everything a quilter could wish for: Fabric, books, magazines and dvds, embellishment, dyes for fabric, threads and yarn – you name it, they will have it.
And if you get hungry and thirsty (or just plain tired) then simply sit down in the modern restaurant where even the stained glass windows look like quilts.
If you are in the Netherlands or not too far away next weekend then go to Veldhoven (near Eindhoven). You will not regret it.
