I just updated the event page with the main quilt shows of 2015. Take a look and mark your calender with the festival dates. You will find many great shows in 2015.
There are the really big events like the International Quilt Festival in Chicago in March and the International Quilt Festival in Houston end of October. And the quiltweek in Paducah in April. In Europe the largest show by far is the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England in August. And don’t forget the Tokyo International Great Quilt Festival end of January which is said to be the largest quiltshow ever.
If you plan visiting the Niagara Falls you should do this in May and combine it with a trip to Canada. In Kitchener, Ontario you can visit the Grand National Quilt Show (begins on May 5), on May 18 the Ailsa Craig Community Quilt Festival starts and from the 26th of May St. Jacobs holds its Quilt & Fibre Art Festival. All of these are not too far from the Falls.
Always well worth seeing are the quilt museums all around the world. There is the Visions Art Museum in San Diego, California, the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange, Texas, the Quiltmuseum in Paducah, Kentucky and the Quilt Museum and Gallery in York, England to name just a few. Check out the event-page to find out what interesting quilts you can see there.
In Australia you might want to visit the Australasien Quilt Convention in Melbourne in April or the Sydney Quilt Show in Sydney in June. But that’s not all – there will be a Quilt Fair in almost every major town.
In Europe you will find the Prague Patchwork Meeting in April, Textile Art Berlin in June, the European Patchwork Meeting in Alsace in France in September and the Open European Quilt Championships in the Netherlands in October. Sprinkled in between are a lot of other interesting shows as most of the countries do combine their annual guild meeting with a quiltshow.
So check out the dates and locations on the event-page and start to plan your “quilt travels” around the world.
