Right in the middle of Munich (Germany) just across the famous Viktualienmarkt is the shop of Quilt & Textilkunst. For 15 years the proprietor Christine Köhne supplies the quilters and textile artists, not only in Munich or Germany but all over Europe with everything they need. And from the beginning (when most European quilters still sewed traditional quilts) she carried a vast array of supplies for artquilts and mixed media.
If you pass through the shop, cross one of these nice little court yards you find so often in Munich and ascend a few steps you are in the gallery of Quilt & Textilkunst. Here Christine Köhne shows traditional and contemporary quilts and textile art, organizing three to five exhibitions a year (see the events-page).
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the shop and the gallery Christine Köhne asked quilters to create quilts with 15 patches of a certain blue color (the color of the shop’s logo). An international jury selected 48 works, which were shown in the gallery.

The gallery and the shop of Quilt & Textilkunst are a really important part of the European quilting scene. I am looking forward to celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2018. Until then – keep up the good work!
