It’s Tuesday and I have 2 treats for you.
The first one is a flickr album by Luana Rubin of eQuilter with 346 photos of quilts from the Manawatu Quilt Conference in Palmerston North in New Zealand, which took place in January 2015. There are traditional and contemporary quilts, pieced and appliquéd ones, pictorial scenes and then some with a real “New Zealand look”. But they all have one thing in common – they are just beautiful. Thank you Luana for letting me share these pictures.
Some of the quilts shown in the Manawatu Quilt Conference belong to the exhibition LIVING COLOUR! organized by Brenda Gail Smith of Australia. This is a travelling exhibit with show dates in New Zealand, Australia and the US at the moment.
You can see all the quilts in this show, together with the artist’s statement and a description of techniques and materials at the show’s website http://livingcolourtextiles.com/gallery.html (this is the second treat). Have a look at these stunning quilts. And browse the website as well, you can find all the show dates and you can even buy a catalogue – picture book would be a better word for it.
Have a great week and get inspired by all these beautiful pieces of art!
